A Bookkeeper’s Passion: Father's Day. 🧮

This month celebrates Father's Day. The Father of accounting is Luca Pacioli from Italy. Coming from a poor family, Luca was an accountant who whilst working for wealthy merchants during the time of the Renaissance, laid out the whole system of the double entry bookkeeping methods we use today.

He did not invent these things because from as far back as the cradle of civilization in Mesopotamia counting money, auditing and collating detailed financial information have been used by various civilizations such as the early Egyptians, the Babylonians and the Romans.

However, Luca gathered together all the best practices of accounting and wrote them in a book, effectively standardising the professions of Bookkeeping and Accountancy as we know it today.

AVP Premier Bookkeeping Services salutes Luca Pacioli and all the other Founders of our craft for paving the way.
